Education Standards

The Wyoming Fine and Performing Arts Standards became final on September 11, 2001. They were revised during 2002-2003 and accepted by the State Board of Education on July 7, 2003. You may view the standards from the Wyoming Department of Education's pages or by going directly to the Fine and Performing arts standards. Other content standards may also be downloaded from the Wyoming Department of Education.

Graduation requirements: Students graduating in the year 2006 must be proficient in the Fine and Performing Arts in order to graduate with an endorsement* of Comprehensive or Advanced. They may also choose Fine and Performing Arts as one of the proficiencies for the General endorsement.

*Graduation Endorsements: Starting in 2006, all diplomas must have an endorsement. They are defined as follows:
Advanced: Student must be Advanced Proficient in five(5) of the nine (9) content areas and Proficient in the other four (4) content areas.
Comprehensive: Student must be Proficient in all nine (9) content areas.
General: Student must be Proficient in any five (5) content areas.

The 9 content areas are:
  • Language Arts
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Fine and Performing Arts
  • Foreign Languages
  • Health
  • Physical Education
  • Career/Vocational Education
