Wyoming artists invited to submit designs for coins commemorating the state's 125th anniversary

The Wyoming Arts Council invites Wyoming artists to submit designs for coins in commemoration of the state’s 125th anniversary of statehood.

The deadline is August 1.

A commemorative coin will be minted in silver and offered for sale. There may also be an opportunity to pre-order the coin in gold. Profits from the sale will support programming through the Wyoming Arts Council. The precious metal coin’s imagery should celebrate the 125th Anniversary, and must include the dates 1890-2015. It may be a single image, or a montage.

Up to three additional alloy coins will also be created as giveaways for the Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches. These should not include dates. Images for the coins may be iconic images of Wyoming, or recognize an important historical person or event. Some symbols adopted by the state legislature may be found online at: http://www.wyo.gov/about-wyoming/wyoming-facts-and-symbols. Alloy coin designs may be a single image or a montage.

Because coins are engraved, images must be finely rendered. This call requires highly detailed final drawing(s). Artists may submit designs for one or more coins, and may submit multiple times.

To apply, go to CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org.
