From a UW press release:

To prepare for artist Wayne White’s visit to the University of Wyoming in November, a free screening of the documentary “Beauty is Embarrassing” is Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in Room 111 of the University of Wyoming Visual Arts Building.

Sponsored by Visual and Cultural Arts, and the UW Department of Art and Art History, this event is free open to the public.

“Beauty is Embarrassing” is a documentary featuring the life and current times of White, a designer, painter, puppeteer, sculptor and musician.

The film traces White’s career from an underground cartoonist in New York’s East Village to his big break as a designer, puppeteer and voice-over actor on “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” for which he won three Emmy Awards. The documentary follows Wayne’s success designing and animating for other children’s shows through a dark period of struggle and self-reflection before emerging as a present-day respected painter and performer.
