Call for applications: Writer’s residency at Red Canyon Ranch

The Nature Conservancy’s Red Canyon Ranch is seeking applications from writers who wish to pursue a writing project or are in need of inspiration and solitude. The applicant must be a writer with an interest in the Conservancy’s scope of work. Residents will be provided rustic accommodations in a log cabin on Red Canyon Ranch at the mouth of Cherry Creek Canyon near Lander. Accommodations include a propane stove, propane refrigerator, heater, bed, outhouse, and lamps. There is no electricity or running water. A $500 stipend toward food costs is provided for each resident.

Applicants should submit printed or digital copies of recent written work, either published or unpublished. Links to web-based samples are acceptable.

All of the information requested on the application form must be submitted for your application to be considered. If letters of reference are to be sent separately, make sure your colleagues, teachers, or friends submit them by the deadline. Please submit full copies of all application materials and writing work samples either electronically or in print. Carefully check your applications before submission. If you would like to have notification that we have received your application, please enclose a self-addressed stamped post card. Notification of applicants chosen for the program will take two to four weeks after the deadline.

Application deadlines
Spring 2015 residency: February 1, 2015
Fall 2015 residency: May 20, 2015
(NOTE: Applications must be received by dates above. These are not postmark deadlines.)

Applicants should indicate their preference for one of two sessions:
Spring 2015 — A four-week residency between March 15 and April 30, 2015
Fall 2015 — A four-week residency between September 15 and November 15, 2015
