Cheyenne’s Aviation History Topic of Casper Celebration

The Sixth Annual Western History Center Celebration for American Archives Month will look at the aviation history of Cheyenne on Friday, Oct. 9.

The presentation, by Mike Kassel, curator at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum and adjunct professor of modern United States and Wyoming history at Laramie County Community College, will look at Cheyenne’s aviation history from 1911-1949. “People really get a kick out of some of the many tales I tell during this presentation,” said Kassel. The presentation will also include information on the United Air Lines Stewardess Training School and the United States Air Mail Service at Cheyenne, according to Kassel.

The presentation will begin at 4 p.m. in Room 215A in the Goodstein Foundation Library at Casper College. Both the talk and reception to follow are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served in the Western History Center, also located in the Goodstein Foundation Library, following Kassel’s presentation.
