Description:

Separated from the Army Medical Corps in early 1969, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for a few semesters then served an apprenticeship and worked ten years as an industrial ironworker.

When I was unwilling to work building prisons or missile silos, I set up a woodworking shop in Wheatland. During the thirty-five years I operated that shop, I exhibited in both traditional craft and fine craft venues. In this century I have served on admissions juries, as an exhibition judge, and curated a show of fine craft shared by the Steamboat Springs Arts Council and Denver International Airport. I have also written a few articles for the woodworking press about a method of work I helped pioneer.

In 2015 I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and, though I have since faced other health problems, still maintain a three thousand square foot studio though I've produced no new work in wood for two years. Instead, my creative energies have been directed to writing non-fiction.
