Description:

Rosie Ratigan enjoys oil painting Wyoming flora and fauna as they reflect beautiful Wyoming around her. Migratory birds and especially songbirds are favorite subject because of their color, beauty and innocence. She also paints ‘en plein air’ because of the challenge and spontaneity of painting outdoors. Rosie is a member of Oil Painters of America, Wyoming Artists' Association and Lander Art Center. Her gallery representation includes Alchemy, ‘an artist’s cooperative’ on Main Street in Lander and The Curiosity Shoppe in Laramie, Wyoming.

During the 2018 Wyoming Artists’ Association in Jackson, Wyoming, Rosie was awarded President's Choice for her oil painting, "Mid Day Light", Great Blue Heron. She also received 2nd place and a purchase award for her "Rainbow Trout" pastel. Rosie's oil painting 'Golden Bison' was accepted into the Governor's Capital Art Exhibition 2017 show and was honored by Governor Matt Mead with a purchase award on February 9, 2017. Golden Bison is part of the Wyoming State Museum permanent collection and will be on display at the Wyoming Capital in Cheyenne.

In 2020 Rosie was invited to collaborate with the University of Wyoming Biodiversity Institute to produce paintings for the 'Art of Hybridization'. Rosie painted 18 paintings and additional studies of the six different species of birds and their hybrids. The exhibition will open at the BI at UW in August 20, 2021 and will be on display for two months.
