Description:

Laurie was born in Ohio and moved to Wyoming at the age of sixteen with her parents, finishing high school in Pinedale. To soften the blow of such a drastic move in her teenage years, her father promised her a horse, a promise that he kept shortly after the move. She has been enjoying horses and Wyoming ever since. For years, her family’s favorite summer pastime was horse packing into the Bridger Wilderness for weeklong camping trips. After her daughters were raised, she began focusing full time on her passion for painting the Wyoming landscapes & wildlife that she enjoyed in her travels.
Since 2013, she has split her time between Jackson & Pinedale Wyoming. When in Jackson, she joins the Teton Plein Air Painters on their weekly painting excursions. She loves the outdoor experience and painting “en plein air” is her preference whenever possible. Oil is her current medium of choice, and as well as painting landscapes on location, she enjoys painting wildlife & still life in the studio. She feels an inner peace when working on one of her paintings, a peace that she hopes transcends to the viewer.
Laurie is a member of Oil Painters of America, Teton Plein Air Painters, Art Assn of Jackson Hole, Sublette County Mixed Media, Lander Art Center, and a member & past president of the Wyoming Artists’ Association.
