Turtle Island Quartet at UW Feb. 5

From a UW press release:

The award-winning Turtle Island Quartet will return to the University of Wyoming for a Cultural Programs concert Friday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center concert hall.
The group will be joined by Mike Marshall, a master of the mandolin, banjo and guitar. Tickets cost $25 for the public and $21 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Center box office, the Wyoming Union information desk or online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts/.

The Turtles, as they call themselves, fuse classical string quartet aesthetic with contemporary styles, combining jazz, folk, bluegrass, be-bop, funk and R&B. They have won two Grammy Awards for best crossover album, have been featured in Newsweek and People magazines, and appeared on National Public Radio’s Prairie Home Companion, All Things Considered and Morning Edition.

“TIQ … is a unified voice that truly breaks new ground — authentic and passionate — a reflection of some of the most creative music-making today,” says world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
