Arts Council

Technology in the Arts

ALL GRANT FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2013 (JULY 1, 2012 – JUNE 30, 2013) HAVE BEEN EXPENDED.

APPLICATIONS MAY BE SUBMITTED FOR PROJECTS TAKING PLACE AFTER JULY 1, 2013.

The Technology in the Arts grant (Tech) originated from a desire to help schools and organizations acquire technology for use in arts programming. In its 15 year history, it has provided seed money for multiple student labs which have grown into full blown programs; developed new web sites and offered arts organizations equipment to extend their class offerings. A few examples include Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival’s use of cameras with grade school students in nature journaling; digital recording equipment for student use; music composition programs; large scale printers; marley flooring for a dance studio; and projectors for theatrical sets.

WAC encourages the innovative use of technology in programming and arts making. This program can also be used to develop technical capacity.

Technology is broadly defined to include low- to high-tech equipment, tools and expertise. While it can include electronic equipment, the grant has also been used to purchase kilns in schools which have not had access to them, or printing presses, and to help implement online ticketing programs.
