Jeb Schenck

Come to the Big Horn Basin Folk Festival a day early on July 31 in Thermopolis and improve your professional skills.

There are only a few photo workshop slots left so contact Jeb at knowa@gmail.com. Dr. Jeb Schenck, mountain climber-educator-brain theorist, is a national award-winning photographer. He has photographed from the highest peaks on earth. In 1988, he served as the official photographer for a Mt. Everest expedition. His images were widely seen by millions when broadcast on CNN and ABC news in one of the first satellite uplinks to transmit images. These nationally broadcast images were the result of field testing one the very first digital cameras for Canon. He has climbed and photographed places known for their rugged beauty — Patagonia, Peru, Bolivia, Alaska, Scotland, China, Tibet and Nepal. He is currently preparing for a series of photographic trips to Iceland.

Photo Tip #1: A Lesson from the Wolf

Editor: People love to take wildlife and animal pictures, but so many pictures turn out as a blur or the backside of the animal. How do you get pictures of creatures in the wild?

Schenck: A lot of things go into a good wildlife shot. You will once in a while get a shot that is serendipitous — accidental — where you just happen to be at the right place at the right time. But being prepared makes the difference. I recommend that anyone going out to shoot wildlife read up a bit on animal behavior and habits. Take a look at these trumpeter swan photos….

To get more info on the workshop, go to our Facebook event page. There you can see the swans, other photos (including the wolf) and read the lesson of the wolf…
