Apply now for Blanchan and Doubleday writing awards

The Wyoming Arts Council welcomes applications for the 2015 Blanchan and Doubleday writing awards.

Deadline is midnight on Monday, Nov. 17.

The Neltje Blanchan Award of $1,000 is given for the best poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or script which is informed by a relationship with the natural world.

The Frank Nelson Doubleday Award of $1,000 is given for the best poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or script written by a woman author.

Both categories are open to Wyoming residents only who are at least 18 years old. Applicants must not be a full-time college student or full-time college faculty.

This annual competition is funded through an endowment created by artist and arts patron Neltje and administered by the Wyoming Arts Council.

This year’s judge is nature writer Kurt Caswell, who teaches creative writing and literature at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
