Architects join Casper Art Walk in October

On Friday, Oct. 2, 7-8 p.m., AIA Wyoming, a Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, will be hosting a free public evening program at the Casper College Music Building, Wheeler Hall. The event will feature speaker Tod Williams, of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects. Using examples of his own work, Williams will elaborate on the firm’s philosophy “to leave good marks on the earth.” The lecture will discuss a number of ways by which the firm addresses issues of health, safety and welfare while making architecture that is experientially rich and beautiful. Williams received his undergraduate degree and a Masters of Fine Arts and Architecture from Princeton University. For over 30 years, he has been principal of his own firm and in 1989 formed the partnership of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects. In 2002, the firm was honored for the American Folk Art Museum, the first new museum build in New York City in over three decades. The same year the building also received the Arup World Architecture award for Best Building in the World. Williams will be discussing projects blending art and architecture.
