The Wyoming Arts Council wraps up its series of free public presentations for its Art of the Hunt exhibit with two events on May 28 and 30 at the Wyoming State museum in Cheyenne.
Family Hunting Traditions will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 28. Listen to stories about the importance of family hunting traditions from Cheyenne’s George Mowl and his daughters, Ashley and Allee. Their stories and photos of hunting are featured in the exhibit, located on the State Museum’s second floor. Joining the Mowl family will be Steve Kilpatrick from Jackson. He is from the Wyoming Wildlife Federation, which is a sponsor of the exhibit. Kilpatrick provided photos for the exhibit.
Family Activities Day will be held on Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. It will feature a series of demonstrations by the following: Ollie Hill, Laramie, packing techniques; Marvin Nolte, Bar Nunn, salmon fly-tying; Karen Mott, Lander, cinches; Ty Hallock, Casper, fish art; and Greg Hallen, Cheyenne, fly casting.
Please come out and enjoy these two fine presentations that celebrate the art of hunting and fishing in Wyoming.
The programs are sponsored by the UW American Studies Program, the Wyoming Arts Council, and the Wyoming State Museum, with funding from the Wyoming Humanities Council.
