Art in Public Buildings Reception at LCCC

A reception at Laramie County Community College is scheduled for October 18 at 10:30 a.m. to recognize the recently completed Art in Public Buildings project on campus. The reception is free and open to the public.

Two new buildings on the LCCC campus qualified for Art in Public Buildings. The Flexible Industrial Technology Building was completed last year and has a large metal wall mural by Chris Coleman (Marysvale, UT). The Clay Pathfinder Building has a new ceiling mounted piece inside by Jake Balcom (Kansas City, MO) and two sculptures outside by Lyle London (Tempe, AZ) and Jim Dolan (Belgrade, MT).

A new plaza adjacent to the Pathfinder Building will also be named and dedicated at the reception.

The Art in Public Buildings program is administered by the Wyoming Arts Council and is designed to beautify Wyoming’s public buildings and draw attention to the wealth of artist experience within the region.

The artwork for each project is selected by a committee specifically selected for that project. Each committee typically consists of representatives from the community in which the building is located, representatives from the user agency, artists or other representatives from the art community, and the architect for the building.

The Wyoming Arts Council coordinates and leads the committee meetings to help administer the project, but does not vote on the selection of artists or artwork.
