Visitors to Cheyenne can take in the annual summer gallery exhibit of student artwork at the Wyoming Arts Council.
“Artistic Discovery 2008” showcases 24 two-dimensional and a dozen three-dimensional works by Wyoming students. The work was displayed in April at the annual High School Art Symposium in Casper. Outside judges selected 25 2-D pieces for Congressionaql Art Awards. First place went to an acrylic painting, “Rocking Horse,” by Kirsten Garber of Sheridan High School. It will be displayed for a year in the hall that connects the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C., with the House of Representatives offices. The 24 honorable mentions are included in the WAC Gallery show.
