The Community Development and Independent Music Specialist will develop, implement, and manage all aspects of the Community Development Through the Arts Program, and create and develop a program to promote the Independent Music Scene in Wyoming.” Interested?

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

·         Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive program that will strengthen and promote the Independent Music scene in Wyoming.

·         Develop services to independent musicians and bands that strengthen their professionalism, artistic abilities, creativity, and business savvy.

·         Work with partners to strengthen the capacity of non-profit and private performance venues to present Independent Music.

·         Develop, implement, and manage the professional development of arts and community organizations’ capacities to offer arts programming, including board development, fund raising, organizational development, etc.

·         Develop, implement, and manage a leadership development program to strengthen leadership in the arts across the state of Wyoming.

·         Perform annual site visits to selected grant recipients to determine qualifications for grant programs and to monitor progress of WAC funded arts projects.

·         Work with Arts Manager to determine funding for grant programs and prepare and monitor budgets; prepare quarterly reports.

·         Serve as liaison to the Wyoming Arts Alliance (WyAA) in their capacity as a WAC partner; assist with conferences and other programs offered by WyAA.

·         Accept correspondence and requests for information and/or assistance from, and on behalf of, constituents and colleagues of the WAC and the department, and address all in compliance with current department and WAC strategic plans.

·         Oversight of grant programs.

·         Develop tour schedules and direct all informational aspects of the WAC’s annual Piatigorsky Foundation Tours.

·         Work with partners to plan tours of arts programming to under served communities in Wyoming.

·         Manage or assist with special projects or other tasks for the good of the WAC and/or State Parks & Cultural Resources.

·         Represent the WAC, the Department, and the State of Wyoming at regional and national events.

PREFERENCES:Preference may be given to applicants with a Master’s degree in art administration, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field with 2+ years of previous experience working in art administration; working knowledge of trends in the Independent Music scene and resources available.

·         Knowledge and/or combination of experience in art related field, business management and nonprofit organizations, with knowledge of arts policy and procedural issues.

·         Knowledge of community and economic development policies and procedures.

·         Ability to work without direct supervision, exercising considerable initiative, with independent analytical and evaluative judgment.

·         Skills in the planning, implementation and assessment of community meetings.

·         Ability to achieve program goals, fully complying with all State and Federal regulations while working effectively and cooperatively with others.

·         Skills in use of computers and various software programs.

·         Skills in verbal and written communication, with strong listening skills and ability to apply knowledge in service to constituents.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (typically in Cultural Resources)
Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Cultural Resources)
Education & Experience Substitution: 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Cultural Resources)
