Nancy Weidel, author of the newest addition to Arcadia Publishing’s “Images of America” series, will be on hand to sign her new book “Wyoming Historic Ranches” October 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wyoming State Museum.

Weidel’s book discusses the Wyoming cattle industry and focuses on famous Wyoming cattle baron ranches, as well as smaller ones, and the role they played in making Wyoming what it is today.

An historian at the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office since 1992, Weidel has coordinated the state’s Centennial Farm & Ranch Program for the past eight years. This program annually honors those Wyoming families, who have ranched and farmed on the same land for 100 years or more.  Her job has taken her to all parts of Wyoming where she has become familiar with many ranch operations.

For more information about the event, please contact Beth Miller at 307-777-5320.

The Wyoming State Museum is located at 2301 Central Avenue in Cheyenne. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is free.
