The Buffalo Bill Historical Center has been selected to receive the 2008 National Medal for Museum and Library Service from the Institute for Museum and Library Services. The Historical Center was selected for this award in recognition of our exhibitions and educational programs including the American Indian Heritage Celebration, the Lloyd New Art Mentorship Program, the Plains Indian Museum Powwow, and the Plains Indian Museum Seminar.
The Wyoming Arts Council has provided grants for some of these programs related to Plains Native arts and cultures over the years.
The Wyoming Arts Council believes that experiencing the arts should be accessible for all, including people with mental and/or physical disabilities, older adults, military/veterans, people living in institutions and those who lack access to the arts due to geographic isolation, cultural difference and economic hardship.
