"Best of WY" art exhibit kicks off holiday weekend in Jackson

From the Art Association of Jackson Hole:

Opening Thursday, July 3, the Art Association will host in the Gallery “Best of Wyoming: Equality State,” a group show featuring Nathan Abel, Ashley Hope Carlisle, Katie Christensen, Martin John Garhart, Ricki Klages, Barry O’ Riley, Do Palma, & Joshua Ray Smith.

Join the Art Association to kick-off the long holiday weekend by celebrating local Wyoming artists!

The Art Association staff selected Wyoming artists with strong work that relates to the exhibition theme – “Equality State”. We selected based on the criteria that Wyoming’s state motto of “Equal Rights” conjures the themes of identity from homesteading to gender politics or issues of land use (to name a few). The significance of our motto has evolved over time. Art can be an expression of an emotion, political statement, experimental idea, metaphor, or document of life and all of its strange beauty and complexities. Exploring the “Equality State” theme can be an elegant gesture or dogmatic protest. The exhibition is a group show of paintings, photographs, sculptures and installations.
