Broughton Coburn leads Aug. 9 Writers in the Park workshop

This may be the most scenic free writing workshop in the country:
The Grand Teton Association offers a free writing workshop in Grand Teton National Park on Saturday, August 9.  The guest writer is Broughton Coburn, an author of several books and resident of Wilson.  He will lead a workshop for writers of any genre and any level of interest.
Broughton Coburn is the national bestselling author of six books (most recently, The Vast Unknown: The First American Ascent of Mount Everest; Crown). He has worked in development and environmental conservation in south Asia for two of the past three decades, and is Visiting Assistant Professor at Colorado College.
Coburn’s workshop will focus on creative, non-fiction descriptive writing that informs and elevates understanding of the world around us.  Essentially, to know and to feel the environment where we live is to establish the foundation for connection and identity.  The task of the writer is to communicate that connection.  The workshop will include exercises that allows participants to observe, reflect, and write.
For the workshop,  meet at the flagpole in front of the Craig Thomas Discovery Center at 9 a.m. Saturday.  From there we will go to a good place to write and talk together.  Bring paper and pen, appropriate outdoor clothing for variable weather conditions and, if you like, water and something to sit on.  The workshop ends at noon.
