Rev the food trucks and ready your tote bags. Casper, at long last, has an art walk.

The summer staple of larger, more cosmopolitan towns comes to the Oil City on Thursday. There will be photography and art exhibitions, live music, author talks, movie screenings, food, booze and more.

And that’s just the first month. The downtown galleries plan to hold art walks on the first Thursday of every month through year’s end.

“It just a great way to get the community involved in the arts and give artists a place to show what they are working on,” said Scarlow’s Gallery owner Claire Marlow, who’s helping to organize the walks.

Twelve businesses and galleries in Casper’s downtown and Old Yellowstone neighborhoods will participate in the first art walk. They’ll each be offering visitors something beyond what’s available on a typical Thursday night.
