Casper College Library holds second annual holiday book drive through Dec. 7

From a Casper College press release:

The Casper College Goodstein Foundation Library is holding its Second Annual Holiday Book Drive through Monday, Dec. 7.

“The library is again teaming up with Wyoming Food For Thought Project to give books to children in need along with food bags this Christmas,” said Brad Matthies, library director.

The aim of the book drive is to provide new books for kindergarten through 12th grade students this holiday season. “Because of the long holiday break, the Food For Thought Project provides extra food bags for students who may be food insecure. Last year the library collected almost 500 books for Natrona County students that Wyoming Food For Thought Project was able to add to these bags, and we would like to have even more for this year,” said Matthies, adding, “Picture books are good, but this year we’d like to see more chapter books for grades four and up, because students grow out of picture books so quickly.”

Two local businesses are also participating with the library. The Tate Geological Museum Gift Shop and Wind City Books are both offering a 10 percent discount on all books purchased for the drive. In addition, the Tate will also donate one book for every 10 purchased for the drive.

According to Matthies, there are several drop-off locations, in addition to the library, for the books as well as for any nonperishable food donations. “This holiday season we would like to be able to feed both bodies and minds,” Matthies noted.

The Goodstein Foundation Library is located on the Casper College campus. For more information and additional book drop-off locations, contact Matthies at 307-268-2036.
