From a Casper College press release:

The Casper College theatre, dance, and music departments will present a musical that is both beautiful in its conception and thought provoking in its telling, “a production that can transport audiences to parts of the heart rarely explored” (Pioneer Press), December 2-5 at 7:30 p.m. and December 7 at 2 and 7 p.m.

“All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914” relives an astounding moment in history when Allied and German soldiers laid down their arms to celebrate the holiday together by trading carols, sharing food and drink, playing soccer, and burying each other’s dead. “This dramatic retelling contains actual quotes and letters from more than 30 World War I figures brought to life by Casper College actors. The cast will also include the Casper College Men’s Choir under the direction of Zach Vreeman,” said Richard Burk, director.

“I wanted to tell the story in the soldier’s words, so I created the drama primarily through found text including letters, official war documents, autobiographies, World War I poetry, grave stone inscriptions, and even an old radio broadcast,” said the play’s author Peter Rothstein. The music, arranged by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach, “ranges from trench songs to patriotic and sentimental tunes, as well as Christmas music from the participating countries,” said Rothstein.

Tickets for “All Is Calm” will go on sale to the general public on Monday, Nov. 17 and can be purchased online at caspercollege.edu/theatre, by phone at 307-268-2500 or at 800-442-2963, ext. 2500, or in person at the box office, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. “All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914” is a collaboration among Cantus, Theater Latté Da, and Hennepin Theatre Trust, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
