From the Teton County Public Library in Jackson:
Look inside many a Teton climber’s backpack and you’re sure to find a book by climbing icon and best-selling author John Long, from How to Rock Climb to the Trad Climber’s Bible. Long will be the keynote speaker for the library’s 3rd annual Mountain Story, a three-day literary festival, May 27-29, where great adventure meets great writing.
“This festival is just another great way that the library connects our adventure-loving community with the kinds of stories they are passionate about,” said Julia Hysell, the library’s Communications Manager.
Leading up to the festival, the library is giving away free copies, while supplies last, of books by Mountain Story authors, including Jeff McCarthy and Jennifer Jordan. On Friday, May 8, the library will give away copies of David Petersen’s “On the Wild Edge: In Search of a Natural Life,” a book that has won praise from authors like Terry Tempest Williams, who writes:
David Petersen is one of those rare human beings among us who lives a wild life with a cultured mind. In this very personal book, we are given a glimpse into the heart and soul of a man who survives the seasons through deliberate choices. He hunts as a matter of sustenance and respect, making peace with the elk who live near him. He writes as a matter of conscience and clarity, creating a body of work essential to the literature of the American West.
Presented in the library’s Ordway Auditorium, the workshops, films and lectures are free and open to the community with support from your donations, large and small, to the Teton County Library Foundation. Seating will be available first come, first serve. For a full Mountain Story schedule, visit: tclib.org/mountainstory.
