Cooke discusses "Reporting the War"

John Byrne Cooke, author of the just-published book, “Reporting The War,” will join the monthly What’s News? media conversation Thursday, December 13, at the Teton County Library in Jackson.

Published in October, Cook’s book, “Reporting the War: Freedom of the Press from the American Revolution to the War on Terror,” has already garnered accolades. Reviewers have called the book an incisive, well-researched history of war-time reporting and a must-read for those who want to become more critical consumers of news.

Once a month, Teton County Library pairs readers with news leaders during “What’s News? Discussing the News with the Editors,” a lunch-time conversation from noon to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 13. Coffee is provided, and participants are welcome to bring a lunch. The program is free and open to the public.

Local newspaper editors, Rich Anderson from Planet Jackson Hole, and Angus Thuermer, Jr. from the Jackson Hole News & Guide, will guide the discussion, along with Cooke.

The Wyoming Humanities Council is sponsoring the program, which is a collaboration between Teton County Library, the News & Guide and Planet Jackson Hole.
