Dancers’ Workshop presents New York City Ballet MOVES in residence July 20-26

Exciting news from Dancers’ Workshop:

Dancers’ Workshop brings world-renowned dance companies to the resort town of Jackson each summer for a series of dance performances and unique programs that leave a lasting impact on the small, yet passionate, community of all ages and interests.

This summer New York City Ballet MOVES returns for their sixth summer residence at Dancers’ Workshop.  What started out as a pilot program in 2010 has developed into a well respected and committed relationship between the small homegrown non-profit organization and the legendary dance company.

Made up of principals, soloists and corps de ballet, New York City Ballet MOVES brings repertoire by Wheeldon, Robbins, Martins and Ratmansky, performing in the Center Theater July 24th and 25th with evening performances at 8pm and Saturday matinee at 1:30pm.  In addition to three public performances, members of the company will teach a series of Master Classes and Teacher Trainings, participate in DW’s annual Gala Fundraising Dinner, and present two Open Rehearsals.  These free, informal rehearsal events are a great favorite with the Jackson community and provide a behind-the-scenes look at the daily work of dancers, choreographers, and musicians.

Dancers’ Workshop is proud of the extraordinary level of access the community receives with residencies like this one.  By welcoming world-class artists into the Jackson community and hosting a full week of activities rather than only one or two nights of performances, DW provides opportunities for dance lovers of every age and walk of life to experience the artistry of professional dance. Through Master Classes, Master Teacher-Trainings, Open Rehearsals, Performances, and Special Events, students learn from experts, local artists are inspired, and the entire community experiences moving works of art by some of America’s great masters.  Over the years, DW’s relationship with NYCB MOVES has deepened and evolved through these programs to the point that the Jackson community looks forward every year to seeing their beloved favorite dancers in an intimate setting, and the NYCB artists find themselves renewed and inspired by the people and surroundings of Jackson Hole.
