Description:

The Wyoming Art Party is a local artist-run (Adrienne Vetter, June Glasson, Meg Thompson) organization whose mission is to organize community art projects and shows that connect individuals, scattered throughout Wyoming, who work in different regions, disciplines (fine arts, writing, music, craft) and from different backgrounds, with the aim of celebrating work that truly represents art in Wyoming as it is, rather than as it is thought to be. The Wyoming Art Party organizes inclusive projects to celebrate the innate creativity of our local community.

In 2013 - 2014 The Wyoming Art Party organized the “Portrait of Wyoming” project where were we invited 38 Wyoming artists, writers and craft folk to collaborate on a portrait of Wyoming. The show was exhibited at The Lander Art Center, The Art Association of Jackson and a pop-up gallery space in downtown Laramie.

In 2015 and 2016 we organized the Laramie “Pop-Up Artwalk ” which is a weekend long event that includes established galleries alongside “pop-up” shops that showcases the work of local artists, musicians, and performers. Our mission was to turn the entire of downtown into a dynamic artspace and in 2016 we had over 50 participating locations and 100 participating artists, musicians, and performers.

In 2016 we also created The Parade Project were hosted a series of free costume making workshops at the UW Art Museum and The Laramie Plains Civic Center. We invited the community at large, as well as different individuals and organizations, to come make a mask, costume and/or help decorate the float or their own bike for the parade. Tying into the 2016 Jubliee Days theme “Unsung Heroes,” we created a “Mythical Wyoming Wildlife” theme for our floats and participants were encouraged to make a costume of their favorite mythical Wyoming creature. Our mission was to give a voice and visual presence to the diverse and rich creative community in Laramie.

Currently we are developing new projects and programing at our new home in the Laramie Plains Civic Center.

Feel free to contact us if you are interested in collaborating or bringing us to work with in your community.
