Wyoming Arts Council

Description:

Born and raised in TX I spent much of my youth and teens visiting Central Texas and the coast of Galveston. There was a lot of time doing pencils and charcoal. Art has always been in my life. Both my parents are artistic. Mother introduced me to oils and pastels and my father was an illustrator. My husband is a sculptor and assembles wood, bone and other materials to make his creations. We made the permanent move to Cody, Wyoming. Although life has always been busy, I have made time for art. God's gifts should be used.

I am comfortable in pastels, oil and in watercolor. Watercolor is so easy to take with you in the backcountry and on plein aire treks and has fast become my favorite. But when I have to, any kind of paper and writing implement will do.

Most of my portraits are from photo studies that I have taken. Ever striving to learn something new, it has helped me tremendously to draw live models and expand out of my comfort zone with our Thursday Night Drawing Group in Cody. Currently a member of the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies, the Cody Country Art League and the Blue Buffalo Artists who exhibit at the Cody Art Show at the Irma Hotel during the Rendezvous Royale week in September. (www.CodyArtShow.com) Commissioned work is accepted and exhibited works in the Robin's Nest Bed & Breakfast in Cody, WY.
