Description:

I was born in the small northern Colorado town of Walden. Most of my summers were spent with my grandmother Turner at our family's homesteaded ranch, near Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I was blessed that my childhood summers were spent exploring the ranch’s streams, hay meadows and old log buildings. Hiking, fishing, climbing trees and, of course, creating something, anything, would have me diving in with excited anticipation!
While in primary school, my family moved to Shirley Basin, in remote central Wyoming. We loved this unspoiled high altitude sagebrush region and spent every weekend we could outdoors enjoying our surroundings. My siblings and I bused 34 miles every day to attend junior and senior high in Medicine Bow…of the classic western novel fame; The Virginian!

I started my college years at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and completed my studies with a Master of Arts Education from the University of Nebraska, Kearney. I am a former adjunct painting instructor at both the University of Nebraska and Laramie County Community College.
My work has been juried into numerous competitive national shows and some have received cool recognition. Some of the highlights are: being invited to be one of six artists chosen for “Still Life X Six,” Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha, NE; receiving a Purchase Award at the prestigious Watercolor U.S.A. Exhibit” and, along with one other watercolor artist, my work was chosen to be featured in “Fire and Ice-Expressions In Watercolor and Glass” exhibit at the Clymer Museum, Ellensburg, WA.
Eight years ago I got to be my own contractor, which was a blast, and I had my studio built in our back yard. Reflecting my love of the wide open prairie, I called it Purple Sage Studio.
My family and I live in Cheyenne.
