A Wyoming native, Melinda Cummings embraces life through color. To remember how it feels on a crisp, cool fall morning. Or the warmth of the spring sun after a long winter. The smell of the earth after it rains. I paint to ground myself and remember to stop and appreciate the beauty all around us. All too often, our time plays tricks on us and we forget to stop; to jump into our surroundings with all of our senses.

I paint mostly with oil to manipulate the color and tempt your senses. As I look at the sage brush against the hills in the early Wyoming wintery morning, I see deep purples and blues. I hear the sound of wind whipping through the prairie grass like the waves upon the shore. I see cerulean in the trees and magenta in the snow on a moonlit winter night. Like the memory of spring, I smell the awakening of a lilac bush. The summer sun can reveal turquoise and silver in a simple aspen leaf. Each one of my paintings is meant to remind you to be infatuated with the beauty of nature and life. And to remind you to take time to enjoy it.
