Ever driven Wyoming's Snow Chi Minh Trail?

snow chi minh trail

Sometimes history, current events and the arts collide in a strange way. All of us here at the Wyoming Arts Council have driven this stretch of I-80 on our way to and from arts events and meetings in Rock Springs and beyond. Some of our readers may remember Barbara Smith’s poem “I-80” in 2003’s Deep West anthology that begins: “This SOB never has been an easy passage….”

Get the big picture on this storied (and poemed) stretch of highway at this presentation:

John Waggener of the American Heritage Center will be at Western Wyoming Community College on Thursday, Oct 16, 7 p.m., to present “Snow Chi Minh Trail: The History of Interstate 80 between Laramie and Walcott.” If you’ve ever driven this stretch of I-80 in the winter, you know how dangerous it can be! This event is co-sponsored by the museum and WWCC. Hope to see you there!
