Experience South Pass City State Historic Site

Experience South Pass City State Historic Site during Gold Rush Days 2007, July 14-15. This family fun weekend features a variety of events and activities each day beginning at 9 a.m.

Activities include a vintage baseball tournament pitting rivals South Pass City, Riverton, Hudson and defending champion Lander; food and refreshments; a comedy shoot-out at high noon; mining demonstrations; and one of the best fireworks displays in the state at dusk on July 14. Visitors will also have an opportunity to try their hand at gold panning, learn about printing from historic printer Mike Parker, and hear the blast of a 19th century howitzer as the Kearney Regulars hail the beginning of each base ball game. Additionally, the Wyoming Chapter of the Volksmarch Association will lead a hike to the Carrie Shields Mine.

Live music will be available in South Pass City saloons and at the fireworks display. Featured will be Jalan Crossland of Ten Sleep, the Stanley Tones of Colorado and The Johnsons from Lander.

Admission is $2.50 for adults and children seven and older. Children six and under are free. South Pass City is located 32 miles south and west of Lander on Highway 28. FMI: 307-332-3684 or email Joe Ellis.
