Governor's Capitol Art Exhibition opens at State Museum

The works of 48 Wyoming artists are included in the 2015 Governor’s Capitol Art Exhibition and Sale. Now in its fifteenth year, the juried exhibition will be on display through March 15 at the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne. The Purchase Award Reception is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 12, from 5-7 p.m. Artworks included in the show are available for purchase by the public.

Artists selected for this year’s show include Gerald Antolik (Hudson), John Baker (Laramie), Rede Ballard (Gillette), Ginny Butcher (Evansville), Pat Butera (Hillsdale), Sonja Caywood(Dayton), Mike Conaway (Evanston), Ken Driese (Laramie), Don Edington (Cheyenne), Michele Farrier (Alta), Tom Ford (Gillette), Jerry Glass (Laramie), Susan Grinels (Lander), Alissa Hartman (Jackson), Daniel Hayward (Laramie), Karen Henneck (Casper), Janet Hodson (Laramie), and Anthony James (Cheyenne).

Also included are Joy Jones (Riverton), Joy Keown (Laramie), Chuck Kimmerle (Casper), David Klaren (Pinedale), Terry Kreuzer (Cheyenne), Eric Lee (Cheyenne), Claire Leon (Story), Ginnie Madsen (Laramie), Jon Madsen (Laramie), Robert Martinez (Riverton), Scott Mooney (Gillette), Chris Navarro (Casper), Lynn Newman (Cheyenne), Eric Nielsen (Green River), Julie Nighswonger (Torrington), Amy Novelli (Dubois), Michael Plourde (Buffalo), Paul Prosinski (Buffalo), James Robinett (Cheyenne), Georgia Rowswell (Cheyenne) and Bailey Russel (Laramie ).

Rounding out the roster are Edward Sherline (Laramie), John Stout (Big Horn), Meg Thompson (Laramie), Elizabeth Thurow (Sheridan), Rowena Trapp (Cody), Shannon Troxler (Wilson), E.K. Wimmer (Casper), Bruce Woodward (Rock Springs), and Dianne Wyatt (Sheridan).

Established under an initiative by Governor Jim Geringer and organized under the auspices of the Wyoming State Museum and the Wyoming Arts Council, the Governor’s Capitol Art Exhibition forms a collection of original Wyoming regional art for display in state offices.

Works receiving Purchase Awards join this growing collection of prestigious art. The state’s five elected officials and representatives from other state agencies participating in the program select the Purchase Award winners.
