The Jentel Artist Residency Program is proud to present this month’s residents in an event open to the public. “Jentel Presents” will take place Tuesday, June 3, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Davis Gallery in Sheridan. Featured this month is a printmaker, a poet, a novelist, an oil on canvas painter, a painter of mixed media, and a photographer. “Jentel Presents” is a community outreach program that features slide presentations and readings by the visual artists and writers at the residency.
Presenters include: Lauren Alleyne, Geneva, NY; Lauren is a poet and essayist whose work investigates story and history. Lauren is a native of Trinidad and Tobago; Nichole Maury, Kalamazoo, MI; A printmaker, Nichole currently teaches at Western Michigan University; Brooke Shaffner, Edinburg, TX; A novelist, Brooke grew up in a Texas border town, once teaching pencil and charcoal classes even though she possessed no drawing experience; Cindy Mason, Sarasota, FL; A painter, Cindy loves to travel and experience new people, places and cultures, her favorite being Hong Kong; Marius Lehene, Fort Collins, CO; A Romanian painter/mixed media artist working and living in the United States. Marius has had the unique experience of pulling a cart with a Water Buffalo; Ted Williams, Oakland, CA; A photographer, Ted has played with baby tigers and traveled Thailand, but is still drawn to the wonderfully ordinary. He currently runs his own graphic design firm.
For anyone looking for a stimulating evening, come join the crowd at Davis Gallery, Sheridan. There is no admission charge for “Jentel Presents” and refreshments are available.
The Jentel Foundation offers dedicated individuals a supportive environment in which to further their creative development. While at Jentel, visual artists and writers have the opportunity to experience unfettered time to allow for thoughtful reflection and meditation on the creative process in a setting that preserves the agricultural and historical integrity of the land.
The Jentel Artist Residency Program accepts applications twice a year from visual artists in all media and writers in all genres for a one-month residency. A residency includes a comfortable accommodation, common living, dining and recreation areas, a private workspace and a stipend to help defray expenses during the program.
