From a Casper College press release:

The Casper College Department of Theatre and Dance will transport Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” to the late 1940s for the department’s next production in the Empey Studio Theatre.

Under the direction of Dr. William Conte, program director of theatre and dance and theatre instructor, “’Julius Caesar’ chronicles the revolution that transformed Rome from a republic to an empire and comments eloquently on the nature of ambition, power, loyalty, patriotism, and propaganda,” he said.

The Casper College production will have a slight twist. “I have resituated the play, transplanting it from ancient Rome to late 1940s New York City, and reimagining the characters as warring Mafia factions, with Julius Caesar himself as the ‘godfather,’” Conte said.

“Julius Caesar” will run April 9-11 and 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. and April 12 and 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students ages 5 to 18 and will go on sale to the general public on Monday, March 30 at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Krampert Theatre Complex Box Office between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, by phone at 307-268-2500, one hour before each performance, for that performance only, or online at caspercollege.edu/theatre. The Empey Studio Theatre is located in the Gertrude Krampert Theatre Complex on the Casper College campus.
