June 24 Tweetchat Q&A with authors Craig Johnson & Tim Sandlin

From the Teton County Public Library:

Join the Jackson Hole Writers Conference and Teton County Library for an evening with Craig Johnson, author of the popular and acclaimed Walt Longmire mystery series, as he shares his insights about writing, Wyoming and Hollywood.

Just released in May 2014, “Any Other Name: A Longmire Mystery,” Johnson’s tenth novel featuring Sheriff Walt Longmire, recently hit the bookstands. As of June 1, it held the sixth spot on the New York Times hardcover Bestsellers List. The hit A&E drama Longmire, based on Johnson’s books, also kicked off its third season on June 1. Johnson will visit Jackson Hole as part of his national book promotion tour, as a resident faculty member with the Jackson Hole Writers Conference, and the first speaker in Teton County Library’s Summer Reading Program for adults.

One Book Wyoming, a statewide effort to generate discussion around a literary pick, chose Johnson’s novella “Spirit of Steamboat” for it’s first-ever selection. Libraries throughout Wyoming are encouraging readers to pick up a copy of the novella, read it and start a community discussion. One Book Wyoming made a limited number of free copies of “Spirit of Steamboat” available, which are all now distributed. The library asks people with a copy to pass it along to a new reader when they finish reading the novella.

The library will also offer a tweetchat with Johnson and Tim Sandlin, Jackson Hole Writers Conference founder, novelist and screenwriter, on Tuesday, June 24 from 2-2:30 p.m. Use the hashtag #longmirejh on twitter.com to find and contribute to the conversation. To suggest potential questions for Johnson direct message @TetonLibrary on www.twitter.com. All are invited to participate!

Johnson began publishing contemporary Western mysteries set in fictional Absaroka County ten years ago. Since that time his Walt Longmire mystery series has garnered popular and critical acclaim. His previous works have also been New York Timesbestsellers and have been awarded the Western Writers of America’s Spur Award, The Watson Award and Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year. The author is based in Ucross, Wyoming, famously known for its population of 25. Explore more about Johnson’s work at www.craigallenjohnson.com.
