Mac Miller, Sean Kingston and New Boyz perform at UW April 13

“1, 2, 3, 4, some crazy kids come and knocked upon your door. So let ‘em in, let ‘em in, let ‘em in…. Join the K.I.D.S. and have the best day ever.”

Those lyrics from a pair of popular Mac Miller tunes will be rapped at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the University of Wyoming Arena-Auditorium as part of a UW student celebration. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Miller, Sean Kingston and New Boyz will perform in celebration of the Associated Students of UW’s (ASUW) 100th anniversary. ASUW, Concerts and Convocations and the UW Athletics Department sponsor the concert.

“ASUW thought that a concert was the best way to celebrate its 100-year celebration because it was the best way to reach a large number of students who currently attend UW. It is something that students would remember,” says ASUW Vice President Brett Kahler.

UW students will be admitted free. Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning Monday, March 18, for $20. Tickets can be purchased at the Wyoming Union information desk, the Fine Arts box office, UW Athletics Ticket Office, online atwww.gowyo.com or by calling 1-800-WYO-FAN1.

After a Facebook poll, and an entire week of voting, Mac Miller fell within UW students’ top three artists, Kahler says. ASUW worked hard to secure each of the artists. The student government organization and UW Concerts and Convocations spent numerous hours making sure that the artists would fit in with the university atmosphere, and also remain relevant with the demographics of college life.

Miller is from Pittsburgh, Pa. In early 2010 he signed to Rostrum Records, and his debut album, “Blue Slide Park,” was released a year later. He decided on Rostrum Records due to its location in his hometown and its association with popular rapper Wiz Khalifa.

He began rapping at the age of 14 and was first known as EZ Mac in 2007. Miller is known for his songs and mix tapes “Party on 5th Ave,” “All I want Is You,” “Donald Trump,” “Loud,” “Knock Knock” and “Missed Calls.”

Kingston won the R&B Track “Beautiful Girls” Award in 2007 at the Teen Choice Awards. He also is known for his albums, “Sean Kingston, Tomorrow” and “Back 2 Life.”

New Boyz are best known for “You’re a Jerk,” “Tie Me Down,” “Better with the Lights Off,” and their feature in Hot Chelle Rae’s song “I Like It Like That.”

“We expect this concert to exceed attendance for past concerts that have taken place at the Arena-Auditorium,” Kahler says. “At this point, we expect that at least 25 percent (2,500) students will attend this event and at least match the number by community members and also from around the state. We hope to see it packed with UW students.”
