October 11: Diwali Nite at UW

“Milaap,” the Indian Students Organization (ISO) at the University of Wyoming will host “Diwali Nite,” a cultural fiesta showcasing the diverse nature of the Indian culture and tradition on October 11th, at the Fine Arts Concert Hall, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Join Milaap for live music by Alam Khan and Javad Bhutta, and other performers, followed by authentic Indian food. Passes are free but limited, and will be distributed for the last day on October 3rd at the Union Breezeway from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. For more information, send an email to pal@uwyo.edu or call (307) 399-6979.

Alam Khan and Javad Bhutta will also be performing a full evening of concert in the tradition of music from North India on October 12th at the Fine Arts Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. As masters of sarod, an expressive melodic string instrument, and tabla, the fantastic drums of Indian music, they will offer a fine musical experience. Admission is free.

Also, tune to KOCA 93.5 every Wednesday from 8:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. and listen to host Salaam Namaster play some authentic Eastern Indian tunes.
