Photographer Paul Ng to talk about his new book at Nov. 19 Green River Library event

Wyoming’s Red Desert is always changing. Natural factors such as erosion and man-made factors will cause the area to change over the years.

Fortunately, photographer Paul Ng has documented the Red Desert in his book “Twenty-Five Years of Exploration of Wyoming’s Red Desert.” Ng will present a program on his book at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Sweetwater County Library, 300 N. 1st East, Green River. Ng is an adjunct professor of photography at Western Wyoming Community College.

Ng’s book was released this year and provides large black and white images of the red desert. “It took me years to discover the beauty of the unique rock formations and the sand dunes in the area,” Ng said in the introduction to his book. After moving to Rock Springs from Tennessee in the 1980s, he started taking pictures of the area in 1988.

“I am fortunate to live within a hundred miles from most of these areas that I have photographed during the past twenty-five years,” Ng’s introduction reads. “Unfortunately, the area is ever changing due to erosion and other natural and man-made factors. To preserve today’s images of the region, one of the most feasible forms of documentations is to capture these pristine landscapes on film, and my choice is by 4X5 large format camera with black and white film.”

Ng’s work has been published in “Wyoming Wildlife,” “Outdoor Photographer Shutterbug,” Hong Kong’s “Fotoart” and “Photog” magazines. His images have been exhibited throughout Wyoming.
