Public invited to attend Wyoming Arts Council Board events Nov. 6-7 in Sheridan

Cellist Evan Drachman will perform Nov. 6 in Sheridan.

The Wyoming Arts Council will hold its quarterly board meeting in Sheridan on Nov. 6-7. It will be held in the Sagebrush Community Art Center, 201 E. Fifth St.

Beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, the board will convene in the Sagebrush Community Arts Center to adjudicate Governor’s Arts Awards nominations, hear reports, plan for upcoming events and conduct business.

The board invites individuals and organizational representatives to attend any part of the meeting to observe the board process, and to address the board during the public comment session beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Comments about the agency’s policies, funding priorities, on-line granting system, and other arts-related topics are welcomed.

That evening at 7 p.m., WAC board and staff will attend the Piatigorsky Foundation music performance by cellist Evan Drachman at the WYO Theater, 42 N. Main St. Following the concert, a reception will be held honoring Dr. Seymour Thickman and the Thickman Family Foundation for their ten years of support for Piatigorsky Foundation Wyoming tours.

Both the concert and the reception are free and open to the public. At the reception, attendees will have an opportunity to meet and talk with WAC board and staff members, including the Arts Council’s new manager, Michael Lange.

At 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, the board will tour the Sheridan College arts facilities. Following that, the board will reconvene its meeting at the Sagebrush Center.

The mission of the Wyoming Arts Council is to enhance the quality of life for the people of Wyoming by providing resources to sustain, promote and cultivate the arts.
