The University of Wyoming Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series continues Friday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m. with the “Modern Saxophone Sonata.” The free public performance will be in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts new recital hall.

Professor Scott Turpen, saxophone, and Assistant Professor Chi-Chen Wu, piano, will be the featured performers.

Turpen serves as coordinator for both the woodwind area and the jazz program. He is a Yamaha performing artist and clinician, and a Rico performing artist who has performed in the United States and internationally, including Singapore, Thailand, China, Brazil, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, France and Switzerland.

Wu has appeared as recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist in the United States and internationally, including the Aspen Music Festival, Monadnock Music Festival and Mayfest Chamber Music Festival.

Her concerts have been broadcast on NPR’s “Simply Grand Concert Series” and “From the Top.” Before coming to UW, where she teaches piano, she taught at Cornell University and Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania.
