Spring 2009 Artscapes on stands now

Not on newstands everywhere just yet, but in your mailbox at least. You can also access the PDF of the newsletter online on the WAC’s homepage with a link on the lower left-hand side.

Mike Shay writes a great overview, beginning on the front page, of all the fellowships that the WAC offers. 2009 visual fellowship winner David Henderson’s artwork flashes on the front page.

Director Rita Basom talks about the new grant Art Works for Wyoming, that supports nonprofit arts orgs. salaries, and/or fees for artists or contractual personnel that had been previously engaged but were being canceled. Board chair Bruce Richardson also continues advocating for the arts in his article, “Arts Mean Business,” an article that appeared in several other publications.

There are also articles about the UW Art Symposium that took place April 2-4, Easter egg artist Bonnie Capron Decker, the Wyoming High School Art Symposium, Governor’s Capitol Art Exhibition, the poetry judge for the poetry fellowships and more.

As always, we profile individual artists from around the state. This issue features “V” aka The Gypsy Cowbelle, a singer/songwriter/performer from Cora; Bo Moore, writer and photographer from Green River; and Daniel Hayward, photographer from Laramie.
