Although World War II was fought far from Wyoming the effect of that conflict on our state was profound.
Everyday lives of every Wyomingite changed in many different ways when the state was thrust from a relatively isolated existence onto a national scene.
To commemorate the anniversary of D-Day, the Wyoming State museum presents a temporary exhibit about the history of Wyoming during World War II.
This exhibit examines how the War effort brought jobs and major economic and social changes to the state: population movement from rural areas into the cities, women entering the work force, and increased military presence.The exhibit is open through July 2.
Wyoming was home to several military bases, a POW camp, and one of the Japanese Internment Camps all of which had significant influence on the state even after the war was over.

The Wyoming State Museum is located at 2301 Central Avenue in Cheyenne. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is free.
The Wyoming Arts Council believes that experiencing the arts should be accessible for all, including people with mental and/or physical disabilities, older adults, military/veterans, people living in institutions and those who lack access to the arts due to geographic isolation, cultural difference and economic hardship.
