Susan Marsh leads season-ending Writers in the Park workshop

Here’s news about the season-finale Writers in the Park workshop:

The Grand Teton Association offers a free writing workshop in Grand Teton National Park, Saturday, September 12.  The guest writer is local author Susan Marsh, novelist and memoirist.  She will lead the workshop for writers of any genre and any level of interest.

Workshop topic: Bringing the outside in: a writer’s conversation with the world around us. We will use playful (and useful) exercises to practice some of the most reliable resources in the writer’s toolbox – focusing on effective use of sensory images. Exercises are designed to train the mind to delight in unexpected connections. Since this session takes place in the glory of Grand Teton National Park, the role of the natural world as inspiration and for writing prompts will be a large part of the discussion.

About Susan: Susan Marsh is an award-winning writer living in Jackson. With degrees in geology and landscape architecture and a lifelong interest in creative writing, she has combined her interests into a body of work that explores the relationship of humans to wild country. Her most recent books include War Creek and A Hunger for High Country .

We will meet at 9 a.m. at the flagpole in front of the park Visitors Center in Moose rain or shine. From there we will go to a good place to write and talk together. Bring paper and pen, appropriate outdoor clothing for variable weather conditions and, if you like, water and something to sit on. The workshop ends at noon.  Hope to see you there.
