Visiting Artist Talk at Laramie County Community College

The Wyoming Arts Council, Laramie County Community College, and Arts Cheyenne are inviting local artists and the general public to an informal talk with visiting artist Michele Gutlove at noon on Tues. Aug. 31 in the Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium on the Laramie County Community College (LCCC) campus. This event is free and open to the public. Students, artists, and community members are invited to attend. The LCCC Foundation will provide lunch for students.

Gutlove will have recently completed installation of “A Play of Optics” in the new Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium (SPA) at LCCC. Through the state’s Art in Public Buildings process, her work was commissioned for the SPA. Gutlove’s work explores the connections between the arts and humanities and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Gutlove says, “The art connects the vestibule and the lobby with the stage, and arts center with the STEM Pathway, as the glass exposes white light’s spectacular colors, forming kaleidoscope-like patterns.”

Attendees will be able to see the recently installed work, learn about Gutlove’s inspiration and techniques, learn about the public art process, and have the opportunity to ask questions.
