Born in Tacoma, Wash., Aaron Wallis attended VCU School of the Arts, earning a B.F.A. in painting and printmaking. Subsequently embracing art and counter culture values as a reaction to a childhood of having a father who worked for tele-evangelist Pat Robertson, Aaron’s newest body of work “The Street Bible,” uses printmaking to depict rappers, drug dealers, and other alternative “saints” in the context of Christian iconography and the illuminated manuscript; his body of work, “Angry Trees,” is a figurative study, transcending conventional norms of landscape painting. Aaron writes for the Jackson Hole Weekly, and teaches printmaking at the Teton Artlab.
