Creative Aging Project Grant

The Creative Aging Project Grant is open to non-profit organizations and to individual teaching artists to develop Creative Aging programming in Wyoming communities. This is a competitive grant. Grants will be awarded to organizations and/or individual teaching artists in order to develop and implement between one and four separate 8-week creative aging programs by June 30th, 2025. Grants will be awarded in increments of $2,500 for each 8 week creative aging program ($2,500 for one program, $5,000 for two programs, $7,500 for three programs, $10,000 for four programs). There is no match requirement.

The grantees are developing programs in a wide variety of artistic mediums, including memoir writing, dance, and landscape photography. These grants are made possible in part by a grant provided by the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies in partnership with E.A. Michelson Philanthropy, and additional support from the Wyoming State Legislature.


2024/2025 Grant Timeline

May 28, 2024 | Applications Open

July 10, 2024 | Applications Close

August 5, 2024 | Notice of award status

August 5, 2024 – June 30, 2025 | Program implementation period

Winter 2025 | Mid-grant check in (WAC staff will request programming updates)

July 15, 2025 | Final report due to Wyoming Arts Council (you will be required to track attendance at your programs and the number of instructional hours)

Guidelines

Both arts organizations and individual teaching artists are eligible to apply for this grant.

In order to qualify for this grant, your organization must:

  • Be a 501(c)3 nonprofit or be a government agency
  • Be based in Wyoming and in compliance with all Wyoming state laws
  • Full eligibility guidelines can be viewed on our website

If applying as an individual artist, you must

Proposed programs should accomplish the following:

  • Primarily serve older adults (55+).
  • Programs that are working with a residential aging community (residential nursing home, etc) should be open and advertised to the general public for attendance.
  • Programs should utilize the Lifetime Arts Model of Creative Aging programming of an 8 week long sequential skills-building program followed by a public culminating event. Similar, alternative models that prioritize social engagement and sequential learning will also be considered.

Criteria

Applications will be reviewed by Wyoming Arts Council staff and arts professionals from the field, and be evaluated on the following criteria:

Capacity – Does the organization/artist demonstrate that they have the capacity to implement between one and four 8-week creative aging programs plus culminating events within the grant period?

Commitment/Experience – Does the organization/artist demonstrate a commitment to creative aging work?

Programming Plan – Does the organization/artist have a clear plan of how they will craft this programming?

Partnership Plans – Does the organization/artist have a clear plan for working with the local aging community?

Budget – Does the budget demonstrate appropriate financial planning for the proposed programs?
