“Wit of Will Rogers and the Woman Behind the Wit, Betty Rogers” March 26 in Casper

Richard and Mary Maturi will give a presentation titled: “Wit of Will Rogers and the Woman Behind the Wit, Betty Rogers,” as part of the Casper College Western History Center’s 32nd Annual Western History Celebration on Thursday, March 26 from 5-7 p.m.

“It is our pleasure to host Richard and Mary Maturi as they speak about Will Rogers and the important role his wife Betty played in his career. These two prolific authors will share and discuss their research during our celebration,” said Vince Crolla, Western History Center archivist.

Richard is the author of 1,100 articles and 27 books, five with his wife Mary. He has won many writing awards and he and Mary have been interviewed on public radio and TV. They have done extensive research on the topic of Will Rogers’ wit and the role of his wife Betty. The Maturi’s co-wrote “Will Rogers, Performer: An Illustrated Biography with a Filmography,” which was published by McFarland and Company in 1999.

The presentation is free and open to the public and will take place in the Gateway Building, Room 225E on the Casper College campus. Refreshments will be served.

The Wyoming Humanities Council presents “Wit of Will Rogers and the Woman Behind the Wit, Betty Rogers” as part of its 2015 Humanities Forum. The Wyoming Humanities Council provides public humanities-based programs in partnership with local organizations and is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
