Jeffe Kennedy’s guest this week on Speaking of Writing will be Wyoming writer Echo Klaproth. Echo is one of a series of writers on the program in recent weeks who will also appear at the Book Festival in Cheyenne on September 14 and 15. Learn more about that at www.wyomingbookfestival.org.

Echo Roy Klaproth is a fourth-generation Wyoming rancher who teaches and farms with her husband, Rick, near Shoshoni, Wyoming. She writes to pay tribute to the unique heritage her family has enjoyed – raising cattle and sheep on ground homesteaded by their great-grandparents in the late 1800s. Her most recent accomplishments include editing an anthology of “fine lines” from contemporary cowboy poems and songs titled Scattered, Lasting Remnants and producing A Nameless Grace, a CD devoted to ranch women, past and present. Her next project is Echoes of a 4th Generation, a book of prose and poetry that chronicles modern ranching and farming in Wyoming and the West.
Speaking of Writing announces the first of its monthly post-show gatherings for writers and friends. Join us at 5 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Bud’s Bar, the official watering hole of Speaking of Writing. Catch up on who is doing what in the Laramie writing community, yak about your own work, and maybe even meet the guest featured on that day’s program. Bud’s is just off Cedar St. on University, on Laramie’s West side. This is a no-host party. We are writers, not pro athletes.
The Wyoming Arts Council believes that experiencing the arts should be accessible for all, including people with mental and/or physical disabilities, older adults, military/veterans, people living in institutions and those who lack access to the arts due to geographic isolation, cultural difference and economic hardship.
